Experiencing Ann Hamilton's, The event of a thread

On the last day of Ann Hamilton's popular multi-media installation, The event of a thread, Brendan and I decided to go on a Manhattan cultural adventure. This visual artist created a very cool large scale interactive art that many many thousands in NYC waited an hour plus in line around the block just to experience it at the beautiful and historic Park Ave Armory in the Upper East Side. Ann had huge swings hanging from a huge Armory drill room hangar and they were all connected to a huge piece of silk cloth that was pulled to and fro by the movement of these swings. Families, couples and individuals took part in this flight of whimsy and I am sure it has been a long time since these folks have swung on swings, a little childhood nostalgia. To be honest Brendan dragged me there but once I was in I was happy to go along for the ride, literally. To learn more about this art installation and the Park Ave Armory please click here.
