Marooned on the Isle of Phi Phi

Ko Phi Phi, or Phi Phi Island, is considered one of the most beautiful island chains on the planet. And after 24 hours here I must agree with that assessment. It's ridiculous natural beauty allows you to easily achieve a Shangri-La type of Nirvana from the eventual relaxation that takes hold. I almost cannot speak of the beauty of this island in prose, it is simply breathtaking, even in a region of the world renowned for its stunning destinations. Limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, white sand beaches, multi species of colorful fish swimming around and miles of trackless forest make Phi Phi the quintessential tropical island. The largest of the Phi Phi Islands, Ko Phi Phi Don is a non-volcanic island, made mostly of limestone. Accessible from Phuket via a 2 hour surprisingly comfortable ferry boat ride from Phuket or Krabi. Ko Phi Phi Don has amazing beaches, super hot water, strong sunshine, popular diving and snorkeling spots, and good affordable food. Much of the island is a protected marine reserve and as I said in a previous post was popularized by the 2000 film The Beach, with Leo DiCaprio, which was filmed in the smaller uninhabited island Ko Phi Phi Leh, Just check out some of my photos of the view from our bunglow.

The best kind a Phi Phi I ever did see
Beach at Koh Phi Phi
Beach in front of the hotel
Brendan grinning about being here at the arrvial at the wharf.
Simple boat docked at the beach with islands and palm trees and crystal blue waters everywhere.
Me equally happy as we walk to our hotel from town

What a lovely boat trip you guys had. I think I was there in high tourist season ... the beaches were PACKED like sardines. It's wonderful to see it's not that way all the time.
