Israeli, Gay and Proud vs. Queers Against Israeli Apartheid

by Eyal Feldman

I had the honor and pleasure of marching with the large Israeli contingent of the NYC Gay Pride Parade this past weekend and it was great. Being both Israeli and gay are two of my most important identities and are major sources of happiness, pride and strength, as it is for many people like myself around the world.  A few days before the parade was to take place it was discovered that the anti-Israel hate group QAIA (Queers Against Israeli Apartheid) was to be marching in the NYC Pride parade as well. This group openly discounts and discredits Israel's sovereignty and security with its cynical and malicious use of Israel's liberal culture as a weapon against it in a perverse double standard that it does not ever ask any Palestinian or Arab nationality to meet. To me this is akin to allowing gay members of a KKK group to march in a pride parade because they happen to be gay, and I doubt that would be even allowed. So as upsetting as it was to have this group march it was even more shocking and sad to find who was marching with them, Andy Humm, one of the two hosts of an NYC public access show on cable TV that covers important gay news topics and issues called Gay USA.

As the group was marching by I called Andy Humm over to me standing in the sidelines to ask him what on Earth he was doing marching with this hate group. He answered uncomfortably that he were merely "meeting friends for a walk." As if strolling in Central Park meeting some buddies, and not carrying a sign that read “I support Palestinian Queers” marching with this controversial anti-israel hate group. By the way Israel grants asylum to LGBT Palestinians to save their lives from their own violently anti-gay culture, one more reason why I march for Israel. He initially hesitated to align himself with this group so as to absolve himself of any responsibility of doing so and went on to say that he supports both sides of this conflict, but in actuality he showed me and the whole world that he stands firmly in opposition with Israel, her proud people both gay and straight and aligned himself with certain dark forces who will never ever be satisfied or pleased by anything Israel does for LGBT rights.

Why did Andy Humm not march with a Palestinian or Arab gay group? Probably because no such group exists and if they did they would be killed immediately. Of all the deserving LGBT issues in the world to support and march for why not advocate for hanged LGBT Iranians, Egyptians, Russians, Syrians or any other myriad of needy gay groups around the world? I sincerely believe that one must not have to destroy or diminish Israel in order to build Palestine, but that is exactly what QAIA advocates, an overt pernicious double standard for the Jewish state only while asking absolutely nothing of the people they purport to stand for.
I implored him to step away from this group, stop marching with them in the future and bring balance to his show, Gay USA, which uses highly inflammatory and inaccurate terms like “Apartheid” “Occupation” and “Pinkwashing” when discussing Israel without anyone to defend Israel’s side. Unfortunately Andy Humm and Gay USA continues to be totally uninterested in having me on or anyone else on to represent Israel’s point of view. I am even willing to have an open debate just to have both sides of this issue out there, but these radical leftist practices are killing any impartiality that he pretends or thinks he has while alienating many of us in the Jewish and Israeli communities who are an integral and leading part of LGBT society around the world and especially here in New York City.

Marching with Israel in NYC's Gay Pride Parade 2012

Yesterday was so fun marching with the Israeli contingent of the Gay Pride Parade in NYC. This was my second year marching and it was bigger, louder and dare I say even more fun than last year. We played Israeli music and danced around wearing our Gay Zionist pride on our sleeveless t's. It is an honor to march for Israel in my own city and help spread the word about Israel's amazing liberal and free culture which is one of the few things that are right about the current Middle East, and hopefully this tolerant message will spread (like butter) and LGBT folks everywhere around the world will know that in Israel like the USA, you are free to live and love whoever you want and be whatever you want.

Israeli-American super-model, Donna Feldman heats up the Holy Land

After a brief photo shoot for a German fashion catalog on the Euro party island of Ibiza, Donna Feldman, young Israeli-American super-model visited Israel to enjoy some real fun in the sun. The ultra chic and uber-fabulous LA based model is staying at the cosmopolitan beach city of Tel-Aviv, visiting family and friends while jaunting around the Holy Land's many beautiful, historical and exciting locales. Our glamazon was even spotted mingling in Jerusalem with Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee (another glamazon) and their family. We all know that Donna Feldman works hard being so gosh darn awesome it is not surprising to find that she loves to restore and rejuvinate at The Dead Sea, taking a dip in it's super salty mineral waters before the odd camel ride. Check out some of Donna's vacation shots with some of the beauty's own quotes.
Have fun Donna, we love you.

Kissinger: Moment of truth on Iran within months

JERUSALEM (JTA) – Henry Kissinger, upon receiving Israel’s presidential award from Israeli President Shimon Peres, said the moment of truth on the Iran question will be in the months ahead.
"The question is at what point one concludes that negotiations have reached their limit? It is not a question that should be answered unilaterally," the former U.S. secretary of state said Tuesday night in a speech at the opening gala of the 2012 President’s Conference in Jerusalem.
"The fact is that the members of the Security Council have stated for 10 years that a military nuclear program in Iran is unacceptable. They owe themselves the need for diplomacy, but also a point will be reached at which they will have to define what they mean by unacceptable and how that should be implemented. And that is a moment that will be approached in the months ahead, and it is something that we should all do together."
Kissinger had come to Jerusalem to receive Israel’s presidential medal from Peres, who was fresh from receiving his own U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom several days ago from President Obama. Peres said it was clear from his recent meeting with Obama that the U.S. leader indeed considers "all options are on the table" with regard to Iran.
At Tuesday’s ceremony, Peres called Kissinger a "brother," hailing "the tremendous effort you made to help us on every occasion as a great statesman and as a great Jew."
The award comes less than two years after declassified Nixon tapes revealed that Kissinger had told President Nixon in 1973 that it would not be a U.S. concern if the Soviets were to consign Jews to death camps.
"It is unusual for an 89-year-old man to say that I wish my parents could be here," Kissinger said upon receiving the medal. "They would be more proud of this distinction than any of the other honors that have come my way."
In his speech, Kissinger also said the Arabs need to offer some concessions when it comes to peace with Israel.
"Everybody knows the sacrifices that Israel has made and is prepared to make for peace, but the other side has to give some content toward what a peaceful world would look like," he said. "There has to be a quid pro quo on the other side. It is a peculiarity of the Arab-Israeli negotiations that one side considers recognition of the other state as sufficient for recognition of peace. But recognition of a state is the beginning of peace, it is not the end of peace."
More than 4,000 people have turned out for this year’s President’s Conference, now in its fourth year, including leading politicians, businesspeople, entrepreneurs and civil society activists from Israel and throughout the world. Among the speakers on the first day of the conference, called "Facing Tomorrow," were Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google, and Tony Blair, the former British prime minister and current envoy of the Quartet grouping of Middle East peacemakers.

Greek neo-Nazi Golden Dawn spokesman sues woman he slapped during TV debate

ATHENS — A Greek far-right politician who slapped a left-wing politician in the face and threw water at another during a live television talk show sued his victims for defamation on Monday.
Ilias Kasidiaris, spokesman of the far-right Golden Dawn party, said he would also sue private TV station Antenna for wrongful detention after he was locked in a room in the studio following the attack until he broke down the door and escaped.
Kasidiaris shocked viewers last week with the attack on Rena Dourou, a deputy in the radical leftist SYRIZA party and Liana Kanelli, a veteran communist deputy, during a heated debate ahead of national elections on June 17.

The 31-year-old former army commando went into hiding after the assault but issued a statement over the weekend blaming the two middle-aged women for deliberately provoking him into the attack.
“I have come to the prosecutor today to file a lawsuit against Mrs Kanelli and Mrs Dourou for unprovoked defamation, and against TV station Antenna for my illegal detention,” Kasidiaris, dressed in a white shirt and dark sunglasses, told reporters outside the court.

Golden Dawn denies being a neo-Nazi party but its image has been severely dented by continuously replayed footage of the incident as well as a variety of other pictures showing party members splashed with fake blood, making Nazi-style salutes or grinning next to an oven at the Nazi death camp Auschwitz.

Speaking at the opening of the party’s offices in an Athens suburb on Sunday, Kasidiaris said he had been set up and was acting in self-defence after Kanelli threw a newspaper at him.
“I never expected that I would be hit in the face on live TV,” he said. “I did what millions of Greeks would have done – when you get hit in the face you have to defend yourself.”
Kasidiaris was already due to stand trial on Monday on separate charges – which he denies – of helping assailants attack an assistant university professor in 2007 but that trial was postponed to September.
Golden Dawn, which uses an ancient Greek symbol resembling the swastika as its logo, won 7% in the inconclusive May 6 election, promising to rid Greece of illegal immigrants and seal its borders with landmines.

Flagging it up this past Memorial Day at Exclaibur in Chicago

Celebrating the end of a successful IML 2012 (International Mr. Leather) in Chicago. After four days of working feverishly slinging my Boy Butter from my booth, I deserved a little stress relief by gently flagging it away. The first two videos are of me flagging and the third one is of my best friend and master flagger, Xavier Caylor amidst a crowd of flaggers on the dance floor of Excalibur in downtown Chicago.
The music may be loud but my flagging is louder
My shoulders were sore the next couple days
My best friend, Xavier Caylor, flagging beautifully
